Frequently Asked Questions

At FC Elk Grove we hold "Open Tryouts" what that means to our players is every position is open at the start of tryouts on every team. The club and its coaches do not hold positions for returning players, we do not promise existing players positions year after year. All positions must be earned and coaches are free to evaluate and make those decisions according to a players performance.
Some players wish to play on an older team, which is allowed at FC Elk Grove. All players wishing to do so muct be evaluated by the Director of Coaching at tryouts. If you are interested in this position you will have to attend your current age tryout and notify staff of your intention to "play up" for the proper evaluation.
Of course, we allow players to switch from Seasonal (D3) to Year-Around (D1) and the opposite is also true. We believe in player choice and if a player decides to tryout for a different level of soccer we encourage those decisions. Once again since we have "open tryouts" a former Premier player can refuse a Year around offer and join a seasonal team if so desired.
If a player is so fortunate to draw the attention of 2 or more seasonal coaches who all desire that players membership on a team , that player can receive multiple offers from all coaches. The player will receive notification of interest and will be given several options to make a decision from.
Most teams will begin in May, but some teams will also play Spring League and thus practice will begin in March. Upon receiving an offer you should talk to the team coach about the plans for the team and specific timeframes.
Yes.
Practices are held around the Elk Grove area, specific days of training and the field is determined usually by the team coach.
